Auctionata lays off 30% of its staff, Mister Spex keeps expanding, Delivery Hero invests in MyLorry.


After raising €42 million Auctionata dismisses staff

After the new funding round Auctionata wants to focus on a “more sustainable and efficient growth”. Part of that is to concentrate on the core business, part of that is to lay off staff. While the Berlin-based startup did not comment on the number of people that will be effected it is rumored that 30% of the staff will leave. Auctionata recently claimed to employ 300 people.

Online optician Mister Spex opens online store in Switzerland

Customers in Switzerland can now order from 7,000 different designer glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. Mister Spex already operates in Germany, Austria, France, Spain and Great Britain. It has also started expanding to Scandinavia by acquiring online shops Lensstore, Loveyewear and Lensit.

DeliveryHero invests in MyLorry

Berlin-based MyLorry offers delivery for restaurants that don’t have their own logistic service. As says, Delivery Hero invested a double-digit Euro million amount for 16% of MyLorry’s shares. MyLorry was founded in 2013 and participated in the Microsoft Accelerator in the same year.
