While donating a computer or smartphone already helps, some Berliners went further and decided to open ReDi, a Tech School for refugees. It started on February 21 with 49 students, mostly from Syria, but also Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Tunisia, and Lesotho. The students will learn skills like Ruby on Rails and Javascript. By the end of the program, they should be ready to apply for internships.

Hungr shuts down

Different to services such as DeliveryHero, Hungr’s approach was to let users pick their meal first and then match them with the company to order it. Even though the startup raised €500,000, it has to shut down now.
