Siemens starts investment program Next47, aims to invest €1 billion within the next five years

Siemens, founded in 1847, became an international company that is known in different areas such as trains, medicine tech, and wind power – just give examples. While it took part in many trends, it missed out, when Cisco knocked on their door in the late 80’s. Back then, Cisco was a small, unknown company, talking about telephone technology which Siemens rejected. A mistake, as it turned out. To prevent such, Siemens now starts a unit called Next47 – 47 refers to the founding year. This unit will look for innovation and invest €1 billion within the next five years.
