Social game maker Wooga has today announced, it has hit a record monthly user base of 40 million after a growth of 185% from 14 million in January last year.
The Berlin startup – a popular Facebook game maker, handles up to 30 billion requests from user-generated actions per month from its network of games, such as Magic Wand and Monster World.
Wooga Founder and CEO Jens Begemann said “Wooga’s growth is organic in every sense. Only 5% of our new users come through paid ads and 40% through viral features, with the remainder coming from cross-linking through our existing games.”
The latest figures follow a recent release of the colourful gem-smashing game Diamond Dash on mobile platforms: iPhones, the iPod Touch, and iPads.
As the world’s third largest developer of social games, Wooga is looking add 100 employees to its multinational team of 140 people – by the end of the year.
