14. August 2012–
Get yourself to these startup events to learn something new and do some networking (or let’s be honest, socialising). Here’s our pick of the bunch in a bumper month of events that will culminate in TOA and Campus Party Europe taking over Berlin.
Thursday 16 August: Berlin Skills Exchange
Spend some time mingling with your fellow creative geniuses at the Berlin Skills Exchange and you could find yourself with some new ideas and nifty skills. The event aims to bring together talented people who can mutually benefit from each others presence, so if you can design an app in your sleep but the thought of programming sends cold chills down your spine, you might just find the partner you need at the Skills Exchange.
WHERE Betahaus, Prinzenstrasse 19-20. WHEN 7-10pm HOW MUCH Free
Friday 17 August: 6Wunderkinder 2nd birthday party
6Wunderkinder has enough grounds for celebration after two years of startup success, so let them invite you to party with the startup scene and the team from 6Wunderkinder at Deck 5 in Prenzlauer Berg. Five lucky guests will receive “VIP” passes (aka an open bar for the night).
WHERE Deck 5, Schönhauser Allee 80 (near S+U Schönhauser Allee) WHEN From 9pm HOW MUCH Free

Thursday 30 August: Target Partners’ TechBrunch
Croissants, cereal, startup advice, potential investment – while you can’t go to this month’s TechBrunch in your PJs, you will get a free breakfast and make new VC contacts on the side. The brunch, organised by Target Partners, brings founders and VCs together and will be hosted by Olaf Jacobi and Michael Münnix. Places are limited (to 30 participants) so if you’re keen for tickets you’ll have to apply with a short pitch at email@example.com. Selected participants will be sent more info a few days before the event.
21-23 September – Startup Weekend Berlin
YOU IS NOW and ImmobilienScout24 are organising a Startup Weekend in Berlin with the theme “Rethinking real estate marketplaces”. Creatives and entrepreneurs work in teams and have 54 hours to develop a business concept relating to real estate, living or internet. Don’t despair if you’re inexperienced because each team is supported by mentors from ImmobilienScout24 and other startups. The teams with the best ideas win the not-so-shabby prize of three months residency at the YOU IS NOW incubator along with the support from mentors to turn their concepts into realities.
