Berlin’s BuddyLabs is preparing to release a new social-giving platform named Toast.

The holding page for Toast keeps it brief: “Giving is Good Karma. Toast will be ready in the morning.” Interested viewers can connect with Facebook or Pinterest to join the intriguing waiting list for invites.

BuddyLabs CEO Travis Todd said he was unable to comment on the project at this stage, either on the expected release date or on the success of a reported seed funding round (including for new online gifting projects) earlier in the year. Our bet is that it will be a points-based system that will allow real-world gifting from online points (you can collect “karma” credits already).

The company’s flagship service, BuddyBeers, allows users to buy real beers for their friends online. Todd suggested earlier in the year that a beer-only phase would be used to test the social giving model at the heart of the parent company. Todd also approached tech angel investor Kevin Rose on Twitter this month with a funding request.

BuddyBeers was released as an iPhone app last month and an Andoid app will be available this month. To celebrate the new apps, BuddyBeers and partner Carlsberg are hosting a party this Saturday at the 1820 Bar Berlin.
