It’s getting very crowded in Germany in the area of online secondhand marketplaces – and the latest funding scoop sees one more startup trying to cash in on consumers’ love for vintage clothing. According to Deutsche Startups, Munich-based Glamloop, which positions itself as a secondhand marketplace for high-end goods, has received an undisclosed funding round from Capnamic Ventures, OP Ventures and Holtzbrinck Ventures.
Behind Glamloop are two ex-Rocket Internet managers, Alexandra Podeanu and Kiana Mardi. The site is yet to go live – a summer launch is planned.
The startup faces fierce competition from fellow German startups Mädchenflohmarkt, Kleiderkreisel, VintageHub, newly launched mobile marketplace Stylemarks and Team Europe’s latest venture, secondhand kids shop Kirondo – plus the obvious, eBay, which turns off a lot of customers with its unappealing design. It’ll be interesting to see how it plans on standing out from this competition.
