Berlin-based travel comparison site GoEuro has today launched its full UK service and announced a partnership with coach-operating company National Express. This means its users can now receive search results with coach routes alongside rail and air options.
“Each one of the thousands of routes National Express runs will now be completely searchable on GoEuro, letting travellers plot the fastest or cheapest routes to destinations within the UK and across Europe,” said GoEuro CEO Naren Shaam.
“Not only will this let us offer an even better service in the UK, but the addition of Eurolines [National Express’s European operator] boosts our entire European offering.”
National Express, which reportedly carries over 18 million passengers each year to 1,000 destinations in the UK and 500 in Europe, is now added to an impressive list of companies that GoEuro has teamed up with since being founded in 2012. The startup has also secured partnerships with Deutsche Bahn, Rail Easy and Rentalcars.com among other airline companies.
According to Shaam, the online travel market is worth an estimated $320bn in Europe, so it’s no surprise that another Berlin startup – Waymate – is also tackling this space. GoEuro offers search results including rail, air and bus while Waymate – which has remained relatively quiet since its launch in April – provides options for rail, air and car.
GoEuro landed $4m, in March, in seed funding led by Battery Ventures and Hasso Plattner Ventures and joined by members from the travel industry.
