Just days after Groupon’s (www.groupon.com) successful IPO, and five months as the company’s Senior Vice President Business Development EMEA, Robert Bosch is leaving the company. The IPO made Groupon about USD 700 million, putting its value at around USD 16 billion. But despite its success, the 39 year old will now be taking up the post of Agency Director at Google.
The exit has surprised Groupon on the back of Google’s recent acquisition of DailyDeal (dailydeal.de): Groupon’s biggest daily deals competitor in Germany. But Bosch won’t be heavily involved in DailyDeal as he now allegedly works to strengthen Google’s relations with agencies. The reasons for the shock transfer remain undisclosed. Bosch joined Groupon in the spring of 2011 after working with Axel Springer (www.axelspringer.de) for ten years.
