Want to win a trip to Silicon Valley to meet the who’s who of investors and tech pioneers? Need some cash to get your startup off the ground? hy! Berlin is inviting European founders to apply for their startup competition at Radialsystem V, where they’ll get the chance to pitch their ideas to prominent investors and international press. Interested? Make sure you get your application in online by 11 January (only a couple of days away!).

Twelve startups will get the opportunity to present their ideas to an audience of big-name VCs, angels and press from the European startup community. Over €100,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs, including two all-inclusive tickets to Silicon Valley, suitcases holding €15,000, mentoring worth over €15,000 and PR packages. Winners will be selected based on the feasibility of their business model, the disruptiveness of their idea and the unique selling point.

The event will be held on 19 January and will give entrepreneurs a valuable networking opportunity – expected attendees include Jawed Karim (founder of YouTube), Paul Singh (founder of 500 Startups), Esther Dyson (founder of EDventure), Mathias Doepfner (CEO of Axel Springer), Alexis Ohanian (founder of Reddit), Om Malik (founder of GigaOm) and many others.

Startups can apply in two categories depending on what stage they’re at. Both entrepreneurs who are at the prototype stage and those ready to launch their product or a new feature can apply. Teams have four minutes to pitch their concept or release new features. Be warned, they take the time limit seriously – last time there was a timer displayed on a big screen!

Last year, elusive startup Toywheel walked away with €10,000 and a trip to Silicon Valley. For pitches from hy! Berlin’s competition in 2012, check out their video page.
