Ice, Ice, Uber. Uber delivers Ice Cream today in 144 cities worldwide

With Uber being covered in tech news (mostly regarding safety and legal issues) on an almost daily basis, the limousine order app now hopes to deliver happiness.

Uber announced on its blog that today, on Friday July 18th 2014, it will deliver ice cream in 144 cities – including Berlin where Uber is partnering with Wonderpots (a good choice, according to foursquare). Uber offers 4 portions of ice cream for €15 (delivery is for free, as you can imagine).

New users should use the code ICECREAMER when signing up to get an order or ride (up to €20) for free.

The ice cream will be delivered by a Wonderpot’s caddie and several uberPOP cars, a Uber spokesperson told VENTUREVILLAGE. As the demand will be high, Uber asks for patience in advance.

#UberIceCream doesn’t take place for the first time. Last year, Uber tried a similar promotion in New York City that did not work out quite as planned. The hashtag “OMGUberIceCream” sooner or later was changed to “OMGUberFail” as Fast Company reported, when users didn’t get their promised ice cream.

To keep the New Yorker crowd cool, however, Uber also offers to deliver quirky, a smart air conditioner.
