Did you know that the word “Geek” has its origins in the 1500s, with an original meaning of “fool”. Or that it’s also found in 18th-Century Austro-Hungarian in “Gecken”, a term for circus performers. If you’re a true geek, you probably do.

But it’s in the 1950s that the word came to be associated with the technology-loving “Geekus Prime” that we identify with today. This infographic traces the evolution of the Geekus Maximus to its many and varied modern strains – you might be able to see some familiar forms…
