MySkoob wins design award, plans offices in Berlin

German e-publisher with a difference MySkoob has been awarded one of the world‘s most renowned design awards at 58th TDC Communication Design Competition in New York. And the company has just let us know that it’s also poised to set up a base in Berlin.

MySkoob produces ebooks with a difference – turning the plain old e-Ink format on its head by adding cutting-edge design touches awesome typography, thanks to a partnership with award-winning design agency Strichpunkt Design.

This ethos has lead to the company bagging a prestigious Type Director’s Club accolade for excellence in typography.

Berlin is the place for startups

With bases already in Frankfurt and Munich, MySkoob has also made the decision to move to Berlin – as Dan Bender from the company explained: “Berlin is not only a great town to live in, but also, as a start-up, we respect Berlin for being the most exciting place to be at.” The company is currently looking for premises.

You can bag MySkoob‘s version of ROMEO+JULIET for free for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad right now and we’re told that there is also planned expansion to other platforms including Kindle this month.

The TDC-winning works will be on display in USA, Canada, England, France, Spain, Vietnam, Hongkong, Japan and Germany. The will also visit Düsseldorf during drupa, 3-16 May.
