Berlin-based Angel VC Point Nine Capital, has linked arms with Hollywood actors Ashton Kutcher and Sophia Bush in investing $775,000 in Silicon Valley online stylist company StyleSeat.

StyleSeat is an online reservations platform which offers salon and hair-care professionals free tools to build and manage their business. In return, it allows consumers to book appointments through the site: Much a like a Gidsy for stylists.

Pawel ChudzinskiThe Angel VC also contributed to the company’s previous round of $700,000 back in May 2011. Point Nine Capital co-founder Pawel Chudzinski says backing the company was an easy choice: “We favour businesses that support small businesses. The stylist workforce in the US is upwards of 2 million people – most are small salons, and it’s a mass market that’s under-served by technology.”

StyleSeat is led by founder and CEO Melody McCloskey, who began working on her light-bulb idea in 2009. The company, which charges users a $25 fee for expanded booking, has booked more than $17 million in salon appointments since its Spring launch last year, and boasts over 40,000 users.
