Berlin-based VC firm Point Nine Capital has just announced an investment in cloud-based business management tool Jobber.
The seed funding round was led by veteran Point Nine Capital and Boris Wertz of w media ventures in Vancouver. Vik Khanna and Pankaj Agarwal, tech entrepreneurs in Vancouver, also participated in the round.
Jobber is cloud-based business management software that allows “field service” businesses such as landscapers, painters and cleaners to manage their concerns from any browser rather than being locked-down to an installed piece of software.
Jobber will let bosses handle CRM, task and calendar management, job tracking, crew scheduling, automated quoting, invoicing, time tracking, QuickBooks integration etc.
“The move towards SaaS (Software as a Service) is inevitable, but until recently most field service businesses have been stuck using old desktop software or even pen and paper to manage their businesses,” said Christoph Janz, founder and Managing Partner of Point Nine Capital.
“With Jobber, business owners are finally getting a better solution. We think Jobber has the potential to establish itself as the clear market leader in this sector and we’re very excited to be on board.”
It seems that Point Nine has its sights set on the Canadian market right now – Jobber is the third company from Canada that has reaped the benefits of a financing round by the venture capitalists.
At the end on January, we reported that Clio, a Vancouver-based company that has also created a cloud-based business solution, specifically for the legal professions had received Point Nine Capital funding for Series B funding, and Unbounce – a landing-page creator for businesses – had seen Point Nine investment this year.

How did the Jobber deal come about?
“We got involved with Jobber via the network we have established there through our former investments in Canada.Iit was an introduction via people we have worked with before.”
SaaS and cloud-based solutions– is this the future for investments?
“Yes, we love SaaS, anywhere. Our portfolio now includes Clio, Infakt, Unbounce, Vend and many of Christoph’s previous private investments like Zendesk, Geckoboard and Freeagent.
