After launching its new accelerator just a few days ago, German television company ProSiebenSat.1 has announced that it is also setting up a startup incubator located in Berlin.

The as-yet unamed venture will be led by ex-Rocket Internet Manager Mato Peric, who was involved in building up South-East Asian Zalando copycat, Zalora, and Indian version, Jabong. This is the second time Rocket Internet managers have left the company builder to set up competing incubators after the team behind Berlin-based Project A Ventures launched their incubator last year.

In a press release, ProSiebenSat. 1 stated that it will use the incubator to expand its venture activities. The television firm wants to gain access to startups that are in the early stages and work with them to build their value. While the media company is using its accelerator to provide twice-yearly acceleration programs for up to seven startups, including seed financing; the new incubator will provide greater opportunity for ProSiebenSat. 1  to build startups that support its own interests.  The main focus of the accelerator will be on startups in the internet and media industry.

As CEO of ProSiebenSat. 1, Christian Wegner, said to Internet World Business, the plan for the new incubator is to launch three to five new startups per year.
