ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, one of Germany’s largest television companies, is taking a step closer to the startup action – today launching the ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator to support early-stage companies in or related to the media industry. The accelerator is particularly targeting innovative startups in the areas of digital entertainment, gaming, social discovery and e-commerce.
Twice a year, up to seven startups will participate in the three-month accelerator program. Each company will receive €25,000 each in seed capital and be offered mentoring programs to help grow and develop their ideas. It will also be an opportunity for entrepreneurs to mingle with ProSiebenSat.1’s broad network of media contacts. The programme will end with a demo day for investors.
ProSiebenSat.1’s latest announcement, along with news of Axel Springer now holding a 49 per cent stake in startup competition hy! Berlin and Deutsche Telekom launching their own startup incubator, is further confirmation that corporate giants are beginning to take notice – and get close to – Germany’s emerging startup scene.
If you’re a media startup interested in applying to the ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator, there’s still time – the application deadline for the spring 2013 program is 15 February at 12:00 CET.
