German media company ProSiebenSat.1 has opened up applications for the second round of its startup accelerator programme, which is held twice a year. Teams will have until 15 July to apply for the autumn cycle slated to begin 1 September. One of the participating startups will receive the opportunity to present their idea at the NOAH Conference in London, where €7m worth of TV advertising time will be awarded.
Selected startups for ProSiebenSat.1’s Accelerator receive €25,000 in seed funding, individualised mentoring, office space at the media company’s headquarters in Munich and access to its network. In return, ProSiebenSat.1 gets five per cent equity in each company. The three-month programme targets founders and startups in the fields of entertainment, digital media and eCommerce.
In May, ProSiebenSat.1 announced the startups participating in the programme’s first round, including parking space marketplace Ampido, online television network Dreama TV, online learning tool Get2Play, social recruiting platform JobCrowd, ticketing startup TicketHelden and music-dating app Moosify. Interestingly, only six teams were selected for the cycle even though the programme can accomodate up to seven.
ProSiebenSat.1’s Accelerator structure is very similar to another large media company’s startup programme – the Axel Springer Plug & Play – which debuted its first eight startups earlier this month.
