EasyTaxi is Rocket’s taxi-ordering app, which launched in Brazil and is now active in a number of other South American countries – including Peru and Venezuela – plus recently launched in Asia in Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. According to Mediapoondi, the Pakistani version entered beta phase in the city of Lahore. Less than a month ago, Rocket provided $15m funding to boost EasyTaxi’s global expansion, focusing particularly on building branches in Asia.
This brings the total number of companies Rocket has launched in Pakistan to five. Along with the two new companies, food delivery service Foodpanda, eCommerce site Azmalo.pk and Zalando copycat Daraz.pk are operating in Pakistan.
At the moment, Rocket is keeping pretty quiet on the two new ventures, its website doesn’t mention any companies in Pakistan. However, EasyTaxi Pakistan already has a Facebook page, which promises the app is “coming soon”, while Zamudi is listed as a partner website on fellow Rocket company Azmalo.
