Startupbootcamp officially has a Berlin home. The European startup accelerator kicked off its inaugural Berlin programme yesterday with a mentors' event at the Webworker Berlin space at Unspannwerk in Kreuzberg and the list of those involved reads like a Who's Who of the Berlin Startup scene. Watch our quick video here and more details after the break...
The building will play host to the ten international teams finally picked for the programme, assisted by over 90 mentors – including Edial Dekker of Gidsy, SoundCloud's Eric Wahlforss, Project A's Christian Weiss, as well as key personnel from UpCload, EyeEm, 6Wunderkinder and Wooga.
Alex Farcet, co-founder of Startupbootcamp told us: "I'm getting phone calls every day from people asking to be involved, but I'm working on recommendation only. There's just something about Berlin right now."
100 teams have already entered for the programme and the organisers expect about 100 more. Co-founder of Archify and previous Startupbootcamp winner Max Kossatz explained: "We had a choice of around 20-30 accelerators, but we chose Startupbootcamp due to the fact it's amazingly well-connected, with access to really key people in the scene."
The programme offers funding, co-working space and above all this unique mentorship for a three-month term beginning in September this year. The SBC team will be stationed in Unspannwerk from now until the end of the year, with an open-door policy and events from now until the final investor demo day.
Closing date for applications to Startupbootcamp Berlin is 17 June.
