Social Media Week is kicking off this week, hosting an impressive total of 130 free events all across Berlin until Friday. Hosted by  Deskwanted and Deskmag and taking place in cities all over the world, the organisers expect to draw a crowd of thousands in Berlin. So if you’ve always dreamed of going viral on Twitter or reaching millions of Facebook likes then get online and register because the Social Media Week events are filling up fast! Marketing to Cyborg

Learn how to market in a new world, where the prevalence of smartphones, tablets and and other nifty technological gadgets have changed the way people interact with marketing.

Women in Tech

We couldn’t talk about Social Media Week without mentioning one major highlight: The Women in Tech panel. It promises to be an insightful and lively discussion, hosted by Managing Editor of Gruenderszene, Nora-Vanessa Wohlert and with panelists including VentureVillage’s own Managing Editor Linsey Fryatt, founder of Berlin Geekettes, Jess Erickson, and Germany’s Country Manager for Etsy, Caroline Drucker, it’s not one to be missed.

I wanna dance with somebody…in Chicago!

One of the slightly more left field events of Social Media Week is the cross-city house party on Wednesday night.  DJ Kenny will play a set in Chicago, which will be live-streamed on the dance floor of Naherholung Sternchen in Berlin, while DJ Paulo Reachi will play in Berlin and have his set streamed in Chicago. Random, but kind of cool.

Social media and employer branding

Human Rights and the Internet – Workshop session by the internet & society collaboratory

The development of new technologies and ways of interacting online throws how to apply human rights within the digital sphere into question. The project “Irrespressible Voices” will also be presented, which draws attention to the human rights issues online.
