Co-founder and COO Martin von Wenckstern will leave Urbanara because of compassionate grounds and will move abroad. Dr. Jonas Kaiser, Former Entrepreneur in Residence at Projekt A,  will take over his responsibilities, starting on September 1st, 2014. Both took the time to briefly speak to VENTUREVILLAGE about their future.

“We have accomplished a lot and I’m very proud of how things developed for Urbanara,” Martin von Wenckstern, COO and co-founder of Urbanara states.

However, von Wenckstern will not only leave Urbanara, but also Berlin.

He will move to Toronto together with his Canadian wife to start a family there. About his future career, he said: “At the moment, I have yet to decide what I will be doing at the next stage of my professional career. I have always dreamed to become a top barista and bringing really good coffee to Toronto.”

Benjamin Esser, CEO at Urbanara, said that with von Wenckstern’s leaving not only a strategic part and founder will leave the team, but also a longtime friend who significantly shaped the company’s culture.

However, the show must go on and Dr. Jonas Kaiser will take care of it. Starting at Urbanara now and moving into the position as COO on September 1st, 2014, he will be responsible for operations, quality management, customer support and IT.

Kaiser was previously an Entrepreneur in Residence at Project A and has a background in consulting. Starting his new position soon, Kaiser said, he is  looking forward to his new challenge, because he already identifies with Urbanara’s concept and products.

“I subscribed to a Google Alert on Urbanara a long time ago already because I simply liked the company – and it’s great to be able to join the team now. The position also offers a great variety of responsibilities and I’m sure I won’t get bored,” he says.  “Plus, the Urbanitos are a great & fun bunch of people,” he adds.
