Henrik Berggren is the CEO and cofounder of social reading platform Readmill – a beautifully laid-out app that’s turning heads of bookworms worldwide.
Launched in December 2011, the Berlin-based business allows users to highlight ebook passages, follow other readers, and discuss and discover new reads using the iPad and iPhone app. Readmill also acts as a cloud storage for ebook purchases with a “Send to Readmill” button present on more than 50 online retailers, such as Pragmatic Programmers.
Since launching on mobile in February this year, Berggren says the company’s growth has tripled. Most recently, Readmill set out on a mission to fill the Google Reader gap, by teaming up with personalised online content service Gazette.io. Launched last month, the fresh partnership, delves into the news-reading space, by allowing it to tap into your RSS so you can subscribe to your favourite sites. Once that happens, an ebook is delivered every Friday, presenting the best of your subscriptions’ content each week.
We caught up with the engaging Swede to talk Readmill, how he and cofounder David Kjelkerud came up with the company’s bright spark idea, and the future of paper books…
