2 – 3 September – Pirate Summit

Once a year 500+ rockstar startup founders, 150+ leading investors and a bunch of media- and corporate executives gather in a scrapyard-turned-outdoor-art-gallery in one of Europe’s most underrated cities - Cologne, Germany. In it’s fifth year, Pirate Summit stays true to its core principles and values: no bullshit and startup superficiality, a hand-picked crowd (the event is invite/application only) and solely interactive formats. The mission: to foster meaningful connections across the world’s startup ecosystems and celebrate true entrepreneurship. One of the core elements of the un-conference: The infamous “Walk The Plank”-pitch competition, where 70+ early stage startup battle for Pirate glory. To seek out the EMEA region’s most exciting young startups, the Pirate Crew visited 50+ cities in 2015 with its “Pirates on Shore Tour”. From Tehran to Stockholm, from Chisinau to Baku, the most promising contestants were picked from among 250+ startups that presented to varying juries consisting of renowned investors and startup mentors.

YEAR OF THE GOAT is a brand-new festival series with a general theme of ‘Digital Transformation’. Covering diverse areas such as ‘The Neuroscience of Disruption’, ‘How mindfulness can impact business’ and the changing media landscape. DocCheck Guano AG together with its sponsors organises a 1.5 day hospital camp event for startups in the health sector that will get participants in shape. Whether you’re a greenhorn or an old campaigner – any kind of healthcare startup will get a treatment at M.E.S.H 2015. The M.E.S.H Camp will be set on a small clearing in a forest, just five kilometers from Berlin-Tegel airport. Inside and outside the tents you will receive individual diagnosis and plans to cure your startup scars and learn about healthcare issues. Network with potential investors and other healthcare startups around an open-fire barbecue, take part in team challenges to get to know each other, and enjoy the all-natural atmosphere. The Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch will again give five fantastic startups from throughout Europe the opportunity to present their business to over 60 investors and investment managers. Besides a host of journalists and another 300 hand-picked VIP guests from Germany’s digital and media industry, participants can look forward to the opportunity of taking home the incredible first prize of €100,000 – the SPIEGEL ONLINE MEDIAPREIS, which comes with a media budget totalling €100,000.
Continuing the tradition of previous years, the investors attending the event will, the very same evening, whisk the pitch participants off for a more intimate business tête-à-tête in one of the ‘Lovemobiles’ parked in front of the venue.
