Online food delivery platform Delivery Hero has just announced the acquisition of Pizza-online.fi, one of the main food delivery services in Finland. Delivery Hero acquired 100% shares of Pizza-online.fi for a single-digit million amount, having previously had a minority stake in the company.

The news comes on the heels of the company reportedly aised about €25m in new funding to finance the acquisition of OnlinePizza Norden Group, opening up territories suach as Sweden, Finland, Austria and Poland.
Finnish brand Pizza-online.fi has over 300 000 users and delivers around 1.5 million orders a year, delivering online orders from almost 700 different restaurants across the country including Finnish favourites Kotipizza, Pizza Express and Pizza Service.
"Pizza-online.fi send its partner restaurants €25m in revenue this year. With Delivery Hero we plan to double that number next year“, said Niklas Oestberg, the co-CEO and one of the founders of Delivery Hero.
Global growth – Seoul food
And Delivery Hero not only has its sights set on European expansion. We unearthed proof yesterday that a similar food delivery platform, dubbed Yogiyo, will be the first Team Europe venture in its new Seoul headquarters. Markus Fuhrmann, co-founder of Delivery Hero will oversee the new venture.
The Team Europe flagship company recently revealed that it grew 84 per cent in Q1 2012 and is now on target for over €250 million revenue this year – and the majority will come from outside Germany including the UK, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Australia, and Mexico.
