Berlin’s start-up scene made an impressive mark in London last night, at the annual Europas Tech Awards. Amen took out the ‘Best Mobile and App Startup’ award, while EyeEm, Wunderlist, MusicPlayr, Readmill, Zalando, and Early Bird Venture Capital received highly commended plaudits. Soundcloud’s founders; Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss were titled as this year’s ‘Best Startup co-founders’ while Berlin’s serial entrepreneur Christopher Maire, took out Best Angel or Seed Investor of the Year.
The DailyDeal sale to Google of 114 million US dollars was on the high-ranking list of ‘Best Exit 2011,’ but was beaten by the UK’s Lovefilm, who won the title after it sold to Amazon for 328 million US dollars back in January this year. The event’s biggest gong was presented to London’s social ranking service; Peer Index, who clinched the Grand Prix award.
More than 500 people from across Europe attended the prestigious event, where winners were decided by a combination of 22 judges and 40,000 public votes.
