SoundCloud Heros – win a trip to Berlin or San Francisco
SoundCloud has just launched a community initiative hoping to create “a global network of SoundCloud ambassadors” to spread the company message both on- and offline.
Since its launch as a simple audio distribution platform in 2008, SoundCloud’s unexpected byproduct has been the creation of a broadcast platform that has allowed users to share gripping human-interest stories globally.
Shrewd grass-roots marketing
In a canny move that’s part community-building, part user-generated PR campaign, SoundCloud is calling for “Heroes” to spread the good word by organising speaker events, setting up user collaborations and creating SoundCloud “missions”.
“The spirit of community has always been at the heart of who we are. In the past, some of you have stepped up as leaders within the community. To us, you are heroes and we’ve got something for you”.
Free trip to Berlin or San Fran
And that includes more than just free stickers and T-shirts. If you’re a successful SoundCloud evangelist then you could end up with a trip to either San Francisco or right here in Berlin to meet and work with the SoundCloud teams.
It’s an audacious piece of grass-roots marketing designed to spread the SoundCloud mission in US urban areas of Austin, San Francisco, New York and Chicago, without spending a Euro on advertising while retaining the core brand values of community and sharing.
