Trends, Innovationen und Digitales aus dem Mobilitätsbereich launches – social TV app makes like Spotify for your eyes

Berlin-based social TV startup has today pulled out of beta-mode and into an official public launch at the London Web Summit, with a web app that uses your Facebook data to recommend movies and TV shows for you to watch.

The native iPad app - now live in iTunes stores across Germany and the UK, merges television, online content and your Facebook social graph. has been fine-tuning and 'tweeking' its product since going beta in December last year.

"We have found that none of us are watching TV anymore. We saw the same with our friends. We found it a shame, because we think films and television series are great. What we don't like is the monotony and the idea that strangers choose for us what's going on at what time," said co-founder Marcel Düe in an interview with VentureVillage's sister magazine Gründerszene.

Much like a Spotifty for videos, Tweek has growing competition within the social TV sphere to contend with, including US services matcha TV, fanhatttan and, German-born product Social TV and UK-based Zeebox.

The founding Tweek team is made up of three Berlin startup veterans; Sven Körbitz, Klaus Hartl and Marcel Düe whom currently have eight employees. "The story of Tweek began at Gate5 where Sven and I started to work for Christophe. At Nokia we met Klaus who joined the founding team of Tweek. All three of us like to build ambitious and innovative services," said Düe. has partnered with companies like iTunes, YouTube, Vimeo, BBC iPlayer, and will expand its content partnerships over the coming months.
